SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PACKAGES

My experience as an Executive Head, Headteacher, ITT and ECT lead, and curriculum writer would enable me to support your school to reach the next level of excellence, whether you require a short burst of support or a comprehensive package.

ONLINE CONSULTATION

If you’re a senior leader or leadership team with one specific area you’d like some support with, this is the package for you. Perhaps an aspect of your curriculum isn’t quite meeting the needs of students, or you’re not sure if you’re compliant with the Independent School Standards. This service includes two 30-minute Zoom calls, aimed at helping you make rapid progress towards improvement in that area.

The first involves discussing the specifics of the issue, exploring possible solutions, and landing on one specific solution to push forward with. We could split the time discussing two separate areas, if you’d prefer, although we would likely not be able to go into as much depth.

In the second call, we will explore how the implementation of the plan has gone, identify any barriers to success, and outline future goals to continue taking it further. You could instead use the second session to explore a separate issue, if something more urgent or important has occurred in the meantime.

QUALITY ASSURANCE VISITS

If you’re a senior leader or leadership team who would like more in-depth support in a number of areas, I would instead recommend one of our Quality Assurance packages. We would first have a pre-visit Zoom call to agree the scope of the visit and to help me understand some of the school’s context; this would help our time in-person to be as effective as possible.


The visit itself would be 6 hours of time on-site, comprising of some/all of the following areas:

  • A curriculum deep-dive (max 2 subjects): this would involve 1-2 lesson observations, a book scrutiny, and a collaborative meeting with the subject leader

  • A health & safety/compliance/premises spot-check, with reference to the Independent School Standards and Ofsted handbook

  • A behaviour/attendance deep-dive, including. observing student behaviour, analyzing data, and evaluating the effectiveness of the behaviour policy and its implementation

  • A leadership and management meeting, looking together at your monitoring evaluation and review processes and suggesting refinements

After the visit, we would then have a 45-minute Zoom call to discuss the key findings from the visit and recommend action points moving forward.


For this service, we can of course offer a one-off visit, but we would recommend a more regular schedule of visits (such as annual, termly, and half-termly). This would allow the above areas to be picked up systematically throughout the academic year instead of only choosing the highest priority areas for a single visit. We can also pick up on previous visits’ focus areas, evaluate the implementation of the targets we set, and agree action points for taking them further, thus over time turning areas of weakness into strength and facilitating improvements that are sustained long-term.
