ABOUT ME!
My name’s James; thank you so much for visiting my website! I’m an Educational Consultant with experience in teaching, headship, and executive headship, and I would love to support you and your school take steps towards excellence.
Throughout my career in education, I’ve been passionate about two things, the first of which is improving outcomes for students, especially those who for various reasons struggle more than others. As a mainstream primary school teacher early in my career, I saw first-hand the challenges faced by pupils with significant learning needs, behavioural challenges, and trauma, and later as a Head of a secondary alternative provision for young people at risk of permanent exclusion (later an Executive Head) I saw this to an even greater extent. These young people need – and deserve – the best: the most coherent and cumulative curriculum, the most patient teachers, the most supportive behaviour management systems, the safest buildings, the most well-implemented health and safety policies. In my role as Educational Consultant for James Birchenough Education Services, I am so excited to be able to support alternative provisions to make improvements in all of these areas, allowing staff to focus on the needs of the young people in front of them.
